Five Day, Five Night Saltwater Trip

Port O’Connor, TX

Wed 6/13 through Mon 6/18

The Austin Fly Fishers club has put another saltwater trip on the calendar. The destination for this trip is Port O’Connor, TX, and the dates of the outing are Wednesday, June 13 through Monday, June 18. This will be a five day, five night trip. Members and guests are welcome to come down for as many, or as few, days as they like during this time period. The club is organizing both lodging, and activities, so that participants who come to Port O’Connor will have a place to stay and will also have opportunities to fish with other people who have signed up for the trip. Participants will pay for their use of lodging and participation in the activities, but the club is trying to negotiate good deals, so that costs are kept reasonable.

The main activity will be kayak fishing in some of the bays in the Port O’Connor (POC) area. We are working with a fishing guide, who, for a very reasonable fee, will provide roundtrip transportation for fishermen and their kayaks to prime fishing areas. If you already own a kayak then you are in good shape to participate in this outing. But, even if you don’t, there are kayak rental places, both here in Austin and in POC that will be glad to rent you a kayak for this trip.

If you're interested in something other than kayak fishing, other options include wade fishing from shore, fishing off the jetty, or going out with one of the fishing guides who are based out of POC.  Exploring and fishing Matagorda Island is another activity option. There are plenty of places to fish in Port O'Connor.

Lodging costs for this trip are expected to be about $30 per person, per day.

For guided kayak fishing, the cost for roundtrip transportation to the fishing trail is expected to be about $25-$30, per fisherman and kayak.

If you are interested in going on this trip, and would like more information, including a trip signup sheet, please send an email, ASAP, to outings@austinflyfishers.com. Make sure that “AFF Port O’Connor trip” appears in the subject line. Lodging and activity space may be limited on this trip.
