Welcome to the Austin Fly Fishers
The Austin Fly Fishers
Mention Austin and most people think of live music, college football, beautiful downtown Lady Bird Lake, and the city's status as the state capital of Texas. But, Austin is also just a short drive away from many fine fishing opportunities. During the course of a year our club will fish for rainbows on the Guadalupe, reds on Texas coastal flats, bass and sunfish on pristine Hill Country rivers. and ocean species from the Padre Island surf. What an exciting range of possibilities!
The Austin Fly Fishers is a charter Member of the Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF), and provides a wealth of opportunities for Central Texans in all aspects of the sport. It’s been called an art, a sport, a science, and a philosophy. Fly fishing is all these things, but most of all it’s great fun! Whether your artificial fly is tempting trout in a mountain stream, bass or bluegill in a country pond, redfish and speckled trout on the Laguna Madre, or enticing big game species far offshore, fly fishing is considered by many to be the ultimate challenge. The International Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) is the common denominator that binds many fly fishers throughout the world. Over 250 local and regional clubs throughout the U. S. work together to further the conservation, restoration and education goals of the FFF. From the maintenance of fishery habitat, to casting and fly tying instruction, from providing a relaxed family-friendly social atmosphere to hosting monthly expert speakers and great outings throughout the state, from the youth education opportunities to the Annual Banquet hosting some of the best known names in the sport, AFF is Austin’s premier fly fishing membership organization.
Our Mission
The Austin Fly Fishers chapter of the Federation of Fly Fishers was formed in 1998 to promote the sport of fly fishing, the education of its principals, and to support the conservation of fishery resources in Central Texas.
